Career Fair 2017

“The career fair is a window [for the students] to see the outside world and gives them more opportunities and vision.” – Mr.Parthasarathy, Dean of NIMS Group of Schools.

 New Indian Model School Dubai conducted a Career Fair on the 16th of September 2017. In its second year the fair witnessed participation from nearly 20 colleges and universities from across the UAE, India and Abroad.

The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Principal of New Indian Model School, Dubai, Dr. Muhammad Aslam Khan. Some of the Universities in attendance were: Emirates Aviation Academy, Heriot Watt University, Murdoch University, Curtin University and the University of Waterloo. Given the number of top rated Universities, it is of no doubt that the students received the guidance and support that they were looking for. In the words of a student from New Indian Model School, Sharjah: “It really helped me understand the options available to me and the various avenues I can explore. It is important for us to know what we are going to do after graduation and this event really brought things into focus for us.”

 Mr. Fahim Ejaz Mulla, the Administration Manager, in his message to the next generation on the precipice of adulthood, said:

“It is really important to make sure that our journey helps us reach the destination we had in mind…….Enjoy each moment as you will remember your school days for the rest of your life. Do not forget that everyone is given different abilities and as such, one shouldn’t be afraid of critics.”

 Career Launcher, one of Asia’s leading edu-corporates, was present at the Career Fair, providing the students with not only different options to explore but also guidance in the preparation for various entrance examinations such as CLAT, NEET, IELTS, SAT, TOEFL, JEE, etc.

Sakchi, a student of New Indian Model School, Dubai said that she had initially planned to get into aerospace field and as such was looking into the aviation engineering options but after visiting the fair found many other fields that would lead her to aerospace, as well. She was really grateful for the opportunity and found the event beneficial in planning for her future.

The previous year 10 students received scholarships from foreign universities through the career fair. Three students received guidance for the SAT 2 examination, two of whom achieved success. 150 scholarships were given by Indian funding agencies as well as the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Ministry of Social Welfare and Empowerment of India.

Mr. Anwar Sadath, President of the Parents’ Council of New Indian Model School, Dubai and Aviation Specialist at Emirates Aviation commented saying that the job market these days is very demanding and as such the students have to make use of the opportunities provided to them. He also advised the students to think ahead and work hard to succeed.

On the whole, the NIMS Career Fair 2017 proved to be a great success and helped students to explore their options and as such better plan their future. To conclude with, it’s vital to remember that opportunities can’t knock unless you a build a door.
